How to Live an Organized Life

Does this sound familiar? You wake up and reach into the toothpaste drawer in the morning to only find bobby pins, change and miscellaneous items first after fighting with the drawer to open due to overloading of objects not related to what you were searching for. In order to retrieve the mints in your purse you first must push through all the used tissues, open wrappers and items you placed in there that were only suppose to be stored in there temporarily. What about running to the store only to forget some of the items you needed to grab so you need to make more than one trip or donning your outfit you haven’t worn in a while to only find out it no longer fits you fabulously but rather requires skill to manipulate your body into the clothes that once glided easily over your curves and zipped in seconds.

Life can go so much smoother and with less stress if we just put a little organization into it. We can spend more quality time with our family or things we like to do when we live an organized life. No more missed appointments or time staring at the pantry trying to figure out what to have for dinner.

Do you value your time? Putting minimal effort into organizing all aspects of your life will bring you joy. No more time wasted and feeling overwhelmed. Spending a little time organizing everyday will save you from a headache and save you time for more important tasks.

If you are a highly unorganized person you can start slowly so you can successfully accomplish your organizational goals. Begin with just a few changes then continue to add more organizational ideas into your life.

Below is a list of Organizational ideas that you can incorporate into your life.

  1. Get a planner and actually fill it out. Fill out the calendar at the beginning of the year with all your family’s ( including your siblings and their children and grandchildren and in-laws) birthdays and anniversaries, medical appointments, vacations, parties, kids sports, family activities, upcoming events, meetings, important due dates for items, and important phone calls you need to make. Look at it daily and keep it updated. Carry a small calendar in your purse to keep updated with reminders of tasks or special dates for when you are on the go.

  2. Use a guide to read through the Bible in a year. A guide will break down the verses you will need to read each day. It helps you to stay on track so you actually complete your daily reading of the Word in a year.

  3. Designate one area in your home where you can write everything down. This will keep everyone updated on important tasks. You can take it 1 step further and add those items to your phone so you have access of those tasks on hand wherever you go.

  4. Declutter your purse regularly. It will look more presentable and you will be able to find the necessary items quickly and easily. Plus you will feel more confident knowing your purse is organized, free of garbage and easy to navigate around in.

  5. Set a day to regularly perform laundry duties. Nothing screams comfort, smells wonderful and feels ah so soft than clean linens, towels and your articles of clothing. Set time aside to complete the process by folding or hanging up and putting away your freshly laundered clothes.

  6. Have a well put together bed every day. It will melt some of that stress off your shoulders when you come home and walk into your beautiful sanctuary. Looking at a bed that’s made along with pillows nicely in there proper place gives you a feeling of peace and relaxation. Having soft clean sheets is a sure pleasure at the end of the day.

  7. Keep your closet clean and organized. It takes extra time to search for that particular item in a chaotic closet. It’s not fun to hunt through that heap on the floor to only retrieve a wrinkled piece of clothing that you now must iron. Go through your clothing regularly to discard any items that don’t appeal to you anymore, doesn’t fit or has a hole or stain on it. This will reduce time, effort and stress when looking for an outfit or a specific item but more importantly you will gain more space in your closet that you can use for items you are actually using.

  8. Always wash and take care of your dishes after each meal. An organized and clean kitchen makes for a relaxed atmosphere in your home. Plus, if you have any unexpected guests you will be all set to concentrate on hosting and entertaining. You will be able to relax for the evening knowing that task is complete.

  9. Take the trash out every morning. Nothing is as gross than trying to shove an item into a full garbage can and having some spill out when removing the bag from the trash container. It will also spare you from some unpleasant and unwelcomed orders lurking into your home.

  10. Sort your photos into folders on your devices. It’s so time consuming and annoying to try and show someone a picture on your phone when you find yourself having to search through 100’s to 1,000’s of pictures to finally find that one picture or sometimes you never were able to stumble upon it.

  11. Spend 10-20 mins a day tiding up. It will save you time and headaches. I would rather do a little here and there than tons of hours spent needed to clean and organize at one time. A decluttered house makes for a cozy and relaxed home to enjoy.

  12. Spray your shower walls and glass door with a Descale solution after each use. This will prevent build up. Nothing looks as bad as a thick white coat of build up on your glass that you no longer can look through. It’s much harder to remove the build up than it is to prevent it.

  13. Plan your meals in advance. This will save you from rush thawing or a quick run to the store for an item to complete a meal. Planning ahead will put you at ease and allows you to actually look forward to preparing the meal that is all set for you to make. One advantage to having your meals planned is that you are more likely to eat healthier.

  14. Donate things you no longer use or find joy in. Getting rid of items you no longer use or causes joy reduces clutter in your home which allows for more living space. Who doesn’t like to have their home appear larger?

  15. Stock up on items you regularly use. Using your favorite store’s coupon service can save you money and it allows the ability for you to always have the items in stock in your home for future use.

  16. Use a budget system to track your spending and saving. There are multiple books, apps and podcasts that help in the knowledge of starting up a budgeting plan. This is one of the important steps to take because once you have your money organized everything else is gravy!

  17. Mark all your storage bins . Use clear bins to easily see the items. Try and arrange each bin with items that coordinate either by room or similar items for example for better organizing.

  18. Keep a to-do list available in plain sight and/or on your phone. I love using the List app on my phone as it’s very easy to access and add items. As soon as something comes up it goes right into my phone so projects are always done quickly.

  19. Put everything back in it’s place. Don’t have a junk draw for sorting items later it will accumulate quickly and take much longer to sort. Don’t have a dumping pile where things are thrown in till you decide to go through it. Both of those take up space and are an eye sore.

  20. Set future goals. Try and do something daily to strive towards the goals you have set. This will help organize your thoughts and accomplish things in your life.
